The computer does have dual GPUs (Intel + NVidia), but thermal limits are a total deal-breaker when comparing to a proper gaming rig, or a flawless desktop like my Mac Pro.

Before the (in-wallet) mining test I had lowered the CPU voltage by 50 mV with ThrottleStop, as an initial try, prompted by the problems doing a huge sync, but evidently it's not enough.
I had also used Microsoft PowerToys 'Awake' to stop it going to sleep while syncing.
